Honeydew

Little Bambino is now the size of a Honeydew! He is 33 weeks, and doing great. The doctor says I'm measuring a little small, so we will see how the rest of our visits go. Hopefully he will get a growth spurt and play catch up!

In other news, Jon and I (mostly Jon) are overwhelmed with getting ready for our little fella. I was telling Jon all the things we still need to get and he looked at me like I was making all this stuff up. We have been very blessed to receive lots of baby clothes from friends and family. Now it's time to get "the stuff" for baby. I was watching a show today and the baby was born at 36 weeks. I turned to Jon and said, we could deliver at 36 weeks and that is only 3 weeks away. The look of terror flashed through his eyes...!! (I will most likely go late, so no worries)

We are taking a classes at the hospital called "labor of love" we have only been once so far (it's a 4 week course, once a week) and it feels nice to learn a little about what is about to take place. I'm so excited to meet our little guy. We love him so much already. I keep dreaming about him and our new family!!!

Ok, I feel a little better about things. Sometimes I need to just write it down and that relives the stress.

Only a few more weeks (49 days) with just Jon and I!

OH, I got a flat tire in my rental car last week... boo for car troubles!

one less deer in the world.....

Yes, it's true. There is one less deer running rapid in Tennessee. Not because we went hunting but because IT RAN INTO ME!
Literally , I had just left work Tuesday night it was dusk, around 5:20pm. I called Jon as I left work and we were chit chatting. I pulled out on the street in front of my work and had gone maybe 1/4 of a mile and I hear a giant THUD! I of course screamed (in Jon's ear) and looked in my rear view mirror and see a deer tumbling. OH MY, I JUST HIT A DEER! Jon was so confused and told me to pull over. I could hear my front driver side wheel rubbing against something and it did not sound good. I pull over (it's now dark) and get out to look at my car and I can see the front fender/bummer is pretty messed up. As well as the hood of my car. I was ok. I didn't even see it coming, so I didn't swerve or even break, it literally ran into the side of my car!!!
Then the fun began. I was not sure what to do.. do you call 911 (it's not an emergency, I'm fine, but my car is not) Do I just drive home??? Jon was down in Nashville, so he finished up what he was doing and came to my rescue. I decided to call the police department and report that I had hit a deer. They said they would send someone out to do a report. SO AN HOUR LATER, a police officer showed up. He did a report, and as I was about to leave to drive home, Jon and the officer looked at my wheel and decided I couldn't drive home, the wheel was too damaged and I could not not drive home. So we had to call a tow truck. I am now driving a rental car. WHAT A PAIN.
That's my story for the week!!

Anchors Aweigh

Thumbnail for version as of 17:45, 27 September 2008

Ok, Ok....I know this is a rare event. Jon is actually making his own post. I know...It's about time. I figure if I'm gonna make a post, I better make it good. Well, obviously expecting our firstborn child is the epitome of exciting news. But second to that, it is finally nice to have some idea of what direction our family is moving in.

Monday Morning I received a call from Navy Recruiting District Nashville and was notified that I was professionally recommended by the U.S. Navy's Surface Warfare selection board. For those of you who didn't know of my intentions to become a U.S. Naval Officer, I have been undergoing rigorous academic testing and physical training for the last 6 months in preparation for the Officer Candidate Selection Boards. I submitted my application for commission in August and have waited anxiously until yesterday for this exciting news.

What this actually means is that pending a Navy administered physical and physical fitness assessment, I will be heading to Navy Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI sometime early in 2010. Of course, we are all hoping not too early in 2010!! OCS lasts approximately 12 weeks and is essentially considered boot camp for officers with a heavy emphasis on academics necessary for becoming a leader in the U.S. Navy. After OCS, my focus will be on surface warships, anywhere from an aircraft carrier, to a much smaller vessel that would patrol harbors.

At this point, even though there are still many question marks waiting to be answered, we are very excited about the prospects of a new career and all the adventures that will soon present themselves.

Utah Trip Part One!

We made it to Utah! We flew in Friday night, and my brother and sister and Jordan came to pick us up! I was so excited to see them!!!! We were really tired, and new we had a fun day planned Saturday so we went straight to bed!

Our first stop was to see Ashley and get our hair cut! YEAH, for hair cuts!
Next stop was Cafe Rio of course!! We meet up with my family there!

David is having so much fun at Cafe Rio!
Mary & Jordan and Laura in the background
Jon is in HEAVEN! Cafe Rio stop #1
We then went on a little walk while the boys went to go retrieve our tickets for the game.

Here I am with the Pretty Mountains behind me!
Jon enjoying the leaves! (turn computer sideways)
We went to the BYU student center to pass some time before the game (and it was raining)
Here are my sisters! (minus 1)
Before the game the Band performed for me! (ok, and the rest of the stadium)
Jon and Laura so excited for the game to start!
I love the Mountains.. you can see the snow on top!
This is the picture to document that I was there.
BYU lost (boo) and we needed a pick me up, so we all went out for Pizza after the game!
Sunday we sent some time together before Mary, Jordan and Laura had to drive back to rexburg. Here is the "Kids" picture of us all together!
Ha, We did Pregnant prom pictures (we thought it was funny) Mainly my dad thought it was funny!
Then Mary and Jordan had to do one too..

The weekend was fun to see my family. I'm not sure when I will see my sisters and brother again?? I can't travel home for Christmas, because I'll be 38 weeks pregnant. And then they will go off to school for the winter semester. So it was so great to see them and spend time together!

We are staying with Jon's sister Liz and her family! Jon and I are babysitting Kaitlyn this morning (this is a real time blog post) and I wanted to get Kaitlyn dressed, and put a bow in her hair. She didn't let me get a cute smiley picture (she now runs away from the camera) but you can still see how cute she is!!

(Why are you taking my picture??)
and well, you can't see it, but it JUST started to snow. It is now a blizzard outside! Hurray for vacations!

That's what we have been up to the last 4 days! More to come.....
